Michael J. S. Moran
Originally from County Roscommon, Ireland, Michael has been living in the United States since 2007. An attorney at Shearman & Sterling, Michael is director and head of knowledge management and practice operations for the firm’s finance practice. Prior to that, Michael practiced as an attorney at Davis Polk where he advised clients on leveraged & investment-grade loan transactions, acquisition financing, and capital markets matters. He has counselled pro bono clients on elder law matters and instructed law students at Columbia Law School's asylum law clinic. Admitted in New York, England & Wales and Ireland, Michael is a dual qualified finance attorney. In 2023, he was named to the Irish Legal 100 List honoring accomplished Irish & Irish-Americans in the American legal profession. In 2019, he was a recipient of the International Legal Technology Association’s Distinguished Peer Award for Young Professionals to Watch. Michael is currently Co-Chair of the New York City Knowledge Management & Innovation Attorney Network. He served as President of the Irish American Bar Association of New York from 2019-2024. Michael holds law degrees from New York University and Trinity College Dublin.
